Room with a view

Another good day in the books. I took a little break from the hospital for some exercise and retail therapy while Shawn worked on his coloring book and went to cardiac rehab again. After being threatened with a suppository, Shawn finally freed the beast. One more thing to check off the list before we can go home. Now we are just waiting for a therapeutic INR.

We made it back up to the roof deck and snuck down to the cafeteria to get some froyo.  Currently binging on South Park reruns . Feels like a normal night at home, despite the Q4 hour vital checks. We are looking forward to possible discharge in the morning.

Back On The Pole

We had a very productive morning off the unit. Shawn was able to come to the gift shop and cafeteria to help pick out my lunch and look for any fun items to bring back to the room. We checked out the cardiac rehab facility and were able to squeeze in a quick 10 minute bike ride. Shawn wanted to keep going but was advised not to push too hard too soon.

When we returned we received some disappointing news. The Dr's wanted to start a heparin drip so we are back on the old IV pole. Along with our pole we are currently anchored to the unit again. While confined to the room we got in some good snapchatting with Madison and the girls. I won't include Austin's snap to save Nicole and Tyler.

Luckily we got out and about this morning before the decision was made and didn't have to spend the whole day in one place. Recent problem aside, we are both doing very well and are looking forward to discharge in a few days.

Smooth Sailing

Yesterday was a great day. We had quite a busy schedule meeting with different members of the team and attending some home going educational sessions. We got to leave the unit for the first time and went to the roof deck. It was so nice to have some variety and get some fresh air.

We spent a lot of the day resting because he still isn't up for too much activity. During our down time we were able to enjoy some of the nice gifts he has received from his admirers. We both had some time to enjoy the coloring book from my mom and came home to a surprise guest from The Haakinson's. Last night we had enough energy left for 3 rounds of dominoes with Shawn's parents and Dave and Val. We still haven't had a chance to watch Game of Thrones, so no spoilers please.

Freedom

Finally free to walk around the unit today. Shawn is motivated to keep moving so we have done a lot of walking and napping today. Looking forward to watching Game Of Thrones tonight in bed together!

In Calmer Waters

Shawn is progressing wonderfully. We are out of the ICU and getting settled with our new nursing team. So far so good. The CVICU staff was fantastic and so helpful and accommodating with all of our requests. Special shoutout to Mandy for just being plain awesome!

We still have a ways to go, but Shawn is motivated to get better quickly so hopefully we will be out of here in no time. Thanks for your continued support and keep us in your prayers as we start PT tomorrow.
