Rough Ryders

Shawn had a rough night while I was back at the hotel. Lots of trouble getting comfortable in his hospital bed. He has been very stiff and we are still working on getting his pain and nausea under control. He is in much better spirits and has even been messing with the nurses a bit. He even looks 20x better than when I left him in the evening, despite the Popsicle vomit I had the pleasure of witnessing this morning.

ICU Day 1

Day 1 was one for the books. Shawn's surgery went well and we are working on getting him better. We had a rough afternoon with some pain and nausea, but when I left him to go to bed he was comfortable and ready to rest. It has been a long and stressful day and we are all ready for a good nights rest before we get to work tomorrow morning. He went in Shawn Sandahl, and will come out as Tony Stark.

Thank you to everyone for all of your love and support, you got us past the first big obstacle.

Surgery Time

To be brief: surgery went well with no surprises. More to come in a few hours. It's not over yet so keep your prayers going strong.

Almost There

We made it safely and uneventfully to Cleveland. Last night we enjoyed a fabulous date night at Pier W. We decided to go big, because we were not planning to go home. I treated Shawn to some surf and turf and oysters. Everything was fantastic, view included. We will definitely go back the next time we are in town. Here is Shawn, being beautiful with the beautiful view:

As for our surgery update, we met with the team today to make sure we were on track for tomorrow morning. Everything is as expected and we are ready to go. Check in is at the crack of dawn and we will be indisposed for the remainder of the day. Please continue to follow our blog for updates instead of bombarding us with texts and calls. We are so grateful for all of the kind words, good vibes, and prayers that have been coming our way in the last several weeks.

Off We Go!

Today Shawn and I head to sunny Cleveland Ohio! For vacation? Not quite. As you already know if you are following us, Shawn is having his aortic valve replaced on Friday at the Cleveland Clinic. Getting there is the first step of the process and that is where we are today. We are set to arrive around 6pm tonight and will be greeted by our limo driver provided by the Cleveland Clinic. Tonight we are taking some alone time to have our last good date night for a while. Hopefully it won't be too long of a recovery process and we will be back to normal in no time.

Again, we thank you for all of your support and prayers as we prepare for the long recovery process. Please subscribe to our blog for updates so we can focus on resting and recovering instead of texting and taking phone calls.
