Logan Marilyn

Yesterday my 3rd niece was brought into the world! Woohoo, more cheers from the crowd! Proud Aunt TyTy can’t contain herself! I got to chat with Master Shifu (Nicole) in the morning as they were headed to the hospital so I had been on the edge of my seat all day, and Mom raced back to Dubuque to welcome little Logan into the clan.

Love at first sight

Love at first sight

Last night we got to FaceTime with them briefly to get our first meeting with the little lady. She’s the sweetest, even though she snoozed through our visit. It’s cool though, everyone knows you never wake a sleeping baby.  It was kind of funny chatting hospital room to hospital room since we are all cooped up right now.

The girls are so excited to have another sister to join their BFF group. I personally cannot wait to dote on all of them and for our girls days. We are so excited and happy for the whole family and can’t wait to meet her in person in July. Hopefully Shawn will be well enough by them to join me!

Stepping Down and Movin on Up

We made it to the step down unit. Woohoo, the crowd goes wild! We had an easy going morning and Shawn is free of some of his lines and drains. 4 down, 3 to go. We played musical beds this morning trying to figure out where they wanted to move him, but we are settled in a room with a nice view of University Circle. Not too shabby. Shawn is still fighting some significant pain issues, but what would you expect? They did crack his chest open 2 days ago. I’d be hurting too.

Carson and Madison continue to update us on how are babies are doing. Patron is still chillin out as usual, and Arya has taken on Madison’s bed as her own. What stinkers! All in all, they seem to be doing well. Mom got home this evening and will be able to make sure everyone stays in line...humans included.

We are all settled in with our Cavs gear and game time snacks and watching the game. Let’s home we can finish strong in game 2. Shawn was very pleased to get some Corbo’s cassata cake and Freddie’s popcorn. Too bad he doesn’t quite have the biggest appetite yet. Lucky for him, he is now a Clevelander and can hit up Little Italy when cake is needed. So excited to join him in July. Mom and I ended up at the Art Walk last night when going for dinner and I found several shops I will definitely be returning to.

POD 1

Today is post-op day 1. We are still in the CVICU and expect to transfer to the floor tomorrow. Lots of tubes and drains to be managed so best to stay put for now. Overall Shawn is doing very well. Pain is under control and very little nausea. Just lots and lots of snoozing. Makes for a pretty boring visit for myself.

We left Shawn for a few hours to get some food and met up with some of Mom’s cousins for lunch. It was nice for Mom to catch up, and now we have some family to visit when we are fully moved in. We got to spend some time over in the part of town we will be living and just get out of the hospital for a while.

We received some very nice gifts from Chelsea and Ryan that we look forward to busting out when we transfer to the step down unit and Shawn is awake enough for some MadLibs.

Dad got Arya trained on the invisible fence and the dogs had a great time playing in the yard now that Ari isn’t afraid to leave the deck. Keep your fingers crossed there are no more accidents in the house.

Onward and Upward

Surgery went well without complications. We had a pretty long day of waiting be re-operations take longer due to the existing scar tissue. The whole thing from when they took him down and back to ICU transfer took about 10 hours, major surgery portion about 3 hours. Not too shabby.

Shawn is resting somewhat comfortably in one of the CVICU. No trouble coming off anesthesia we’ve seen so far. More updates tomorrow when he’s a little more awake.

On another note, we may have found our house here in Cleveland. Just need to get the deposit and details worked out over the weekend. No photos until it’s official, but we are well on our way to becoming Clevelanders.  Special shoutout to Dave and Val for all of their help setting up times to see houses and getting us in contact with our possible future landlords.

The Big Day

Shoutout to Nicole for the extra motivation.

The big day is here. They took Shawn down for surgery around 6:45. Still no update but it’s a little premature for that. Please continue keep us in your thoughts and prayers today.

We had a good night last night watching the Spelling Bee Finals and game 1 of the NBA championships. WTF happened with the Cavs am I right?!? On a happier note, way to win that $40,000 Karthik. What an underdog.

Dogs are doing well. Arya and Dad are bonding over shared ice cream, whether it’s voluntary or not.
