All Clear

Today we got the all clear for surgery tomorrow. Shawn will go under the knife at the crack of dawn and we could really use your continued prayers. They’ve been helping so far!

It’s been somewhat uneventful today as we waited to have the angiogram. However we were able to stay entertained by the nail biter of a National Spelling Bee. We were not disappointed when Marisa was eliminated. #sorrynotsorry

As for the pups, Carson and Madison seem to be having fun with them. Patron went back to his usual routine and Arya is still trying to learn the ropes. Hopefully she figures out the invisible fence soon!

Change of Pace

Here we are back in the ICU again. Shawn’s heart rhythm was becoming irregular due to the infection, so they placed a temporary pacemaker in case it were to worsen. Because of that, it looks like we will be in the ICU until we go to surgery.

Good news, we finally have a surgery date. Shawn will have another cerebral angiogram tomorrow to make sure everything looks good, then go to surgery on Friday if all is well. Things are finally starting to move forward.

High Times

We had a little scare this morning. After breakfast Shawn started complaining of some pretty serious chest pain. We called the nurses and they checked vitals and did an EKG. They didn’t find any abnormalities in either and the doc ordered 1 mg IV dilaudid. WOW! For someone who hasn’t had opioids in 2 years, he was zonked! He is feeling pretty good right now, hold his cross from Austin and singing Todo. He’s also really enjoying watching King of Queens reruns.

Still no updates on the plan. Hoping to have more details this afternoon.

Pockets Full of Jell-O

Still not a lot of news. Last night we watched game 7 of the GSW/Houston match up. We will be facing the GSW in the championship later this week. Hope our Cavs gear gets here in time!

We got in some more roof time yesterday to soak in the sun. What a beautiful Memorial Day. We’ve also been frequently visiting the nutrition room to smuggle snacks back to the room. It’s full of popsicles, jello, applesauce, pudding, milk, and OJ. Don’t forget the free coffee, can’t get by without that one.

Shawn had some more imaging done last night and this morning. Neuron wanted to reimage his head to make sure everything was stable and not progressing. Planning for another angiogram the day before surgery, which remains unscheduled as of right now.

We got report from my family on the dogs. Lucy is a bit overwhelmed and doesn’t know what to do about giant Arya, but she will come around. She’s been good with the kids and seems to be behaving so far. Arya has made my parents’ bed her new bed and likes to sleep with them up on the pillows. Sounds like they love it ;)

Carson even took them out to Swiss Valley for a swim and a hike. Livin’ the life.

Another Lazy Day

Today we are looking forward to a lazy Memorial Day. No big updates or plans for the afternoon so we will keep this one short.

We had a nice night cheering the Cavs (our new hometown team) to victory over the Celtics. King James did it again.

The dogs spent their first night in a hotel and things sounded to have gone somewhat smoothly. Arya was like a little kid and spent the night jumping between beds to decide where to sleep. Patron was his usual self barking at anyone who walked by the room. God bless my parents for renting a car and taking them cross country to stay with them while we go through this tough time.

More to come when things start picking up. Hoping to get up to the roof deck a few times today to enjoy this beautiful sunny day.
